What's Happening Around Here!
12/31/07
2007 has held some Wonderful moments and some that were a bit on the tough side.  We will
cherish and hold the wonderful and grow through the rough. We look forward to 2008 with Faith
that God is going to work all things to our good and that which seemed to be bad will work out
better than fine.

12/30/07
Happy Birthday Joshua! Can't believe that you are 17 years old already. You are growing into a
wonderful young man and we are so proud of you and love you very much.

12/28/07
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. The 23rd Justin brought Abbi, William & MacKenzie
home with him and they spent the night. Matt and Alissa went away for the night to celebrate their
anniversary. We spent Christmas eve day watching the kids and cooking for the evening. We
drove into town for the candle light Christmas eve service at church. Afterward we came home
and took a family picture then opened presents. Everyone had a good time and we all received
some very thoughtful gifts.

12/22/07
Well we are officially snowed in. We have about 8" of snow and they have closed the Interstate.
Larry, Ashli. Josh and I are here and Justin is at Matt and Alissa's for the night.  Larry has made
junk all day and I am just about sick of Chocolate.

12/21/07
Yesterday I pretty much finished my shopping. Ashli and I also shopped for her class project. She
puts so much love and devotion into her class. I hope the parents of these precious little ones
know how truly blessed they are.
Today I have to clean house and wrap some presents. I also have to cut up and freeze chicken
for the dogs. I didn't get it done last night. I began playing a text guessing game with Levi for his
birthday. I think we both kind of had each other freaked for a minute. He made a comment that
had me fearing I had been texting a complete stranger. I also think he was afraid he had a freak
texting him. Believe me it would of been rather awkward. <g>
Joshua and I are officially on Christmas vacation.  Larry gets off at 1:30 today and Ashli will work
until noon on Monday. Not sure what Justin's schedule is but surely we will see more of him than
normal.

12/20/07
Well it will soon be Christmas! I still can't hardly believe it. I am going to run into town later today
with Ashli and finish my shopping up. I also have to get some groceries if we are going to continue
to eat around here. I hope that you have been following our 12 days of Christmas. It has been a lot
of fun putting together. I did the 9th day last night and it was pretty emotional for me. I won't say
any more you will just have to wait a see. I need to get days 10 and 11 put together. I already have
Day 12 in my head I just hope I am able to pull it off.
Well better run if I am going to get everything done. Happy 15th Birthday Levi!

12/18/07
Not much going on, just the usual. Josh and I have school to do and laundry! Gosh I wish the
funner parts of life multiplied as quickly as the laundry tends to pile up around here. I think we
must be either the dirtiest or the cleanest bunch around.
I do have to think up some pictures for the remainder of our 12 Days of Christmas as well as find a
day to finish up my shopping. This coming year I am going to return to my past habit of being
completely finished with my shopping by November. I used to always have the entire Holiday
season to just relax and enjoy the kids. I am ready to have things that way again.

12/17/07
I am on a Basenji Pix list which I enjoy so much. We are a group of people who love to share
pictures of our basenjis. Well each year I try and come up with something fun to send for
Christmas. Last year we posed with the snowman and dog which was lots of fun. This year I
decided we would do a series of Gifts. It is called "
The 12 Days of a Birch Christmas". I posted all
the pictures so far on a page and will add another each day. We invite you to sing along and join
the fun.
I also got the pictures up that were taken of Joshua and Sarah before the Winter Formal for those
of you who wanted to see them. The link is on the 2007 Family events page. Speaking of which I
can't hardly believe it is about time to start a 2008 page. Wow this year has flown by.
William, Josh and I have been rearranging furniture. Needless to say I'm pooped. Speaking of
which Will found a roll of poop bags and decided he needed to take the dogs out. He was in the
back yard with them for awhile and came in pretty frustrated. No one had to go potty! I am
actually quite happy that was the case. He also found some hot wheels I had put away to put in his
stocking in a few days. Oh well he was so excited with his find I let him have them.
I also added text messaging to our family plan on the cell phones. Josh and I played a little while
sending messages and pictures to each other. Don't expect to get many texts from me as I am
waaaayyyy slow.
Thanks for signing the guest book Shelley. It was nice to see someone stopped by and visited.
Larry told me that you had been asking about it and missed the regular updates.

12/16/07
Sorry that the site has been behind. I ran into some technical stuff and couldn't get it published.
Well if you go to the Roberts page you will see that Bryce and Rylan are home and doing well.
They have made their first trip to see Grandma and Papa Goose. Not sure when they will be up to
the whole family. We will be satisfied with pictures until they are ready. We are just thankful they
are here and healthy.
Lets see.... our last three shows this year were Lawrence, Tulsa and Springfield. Our Presley won
his first Group placement in Lawrence. He and Tucker both have a Group 4 to their name. We
were thrilled to watch Presley's Uncle Jagger win Best Veteran in the Specialty in Tulsa. Someday
I hope to stand proudly and clap the loudest when my Presley follows in his steps. If you are there
and don't recognize me I will be the one with the biggest smile and tears running down my face.
The following weekend we showed in Springfield where Presley won Best of Breed both days. He
won 2 huge purple bath sheets with Best of Breed monogrammed in gold. We are through
showing for this year and not sure where or when we will show next year. I guess time will tell.
The family is getting ready for Christmas. I only have a couple of things to pick up and I am done.
We aren't going really big this year and hope to just be able to convey to all that we love that they
are what makes Christmas special. Ashli still loves her job and between that and her friendship
group stays very busy. Justin is still working for the parks dept. He seems to keep the road hot
and we don't see nearly enough of him. Josh and I are busy with school and we sometimes have
the little ones that make the day full. He attended a Winter Formal with a friend a couple of weeks
ago and was very handsome. I will post a couple of pictures this week. The weather has made life
interesting what with the roads and power outages. I sometimes wish I could go back to when
they were little and I could go to sleep knowing they were all in their beds and not on the roads.
Matt and Alissa are doing great. We took our annual trip to KC for ornaments and had lot of fun.
We look forward to this time with them every year. We shopped and had dinner and just enjoyed
their company. Abbi, William and MacKenzie.....What can I say they are wonderful. Abbi is in
school and blossoming into a young lady before our eyes. She and I still work at the North Pole
and I fear one day she will be my boss. <g> I hope that she will always remember fondly the days
when she and grandma were elves. My William is quite the charmer. He is so much like his daddy
with the sweet talking and singing. The other day he was singing a song that he made up and I
swear I have his dad singing it on video. Too funny. Miss MacKenzie is soon going to be no longer
a baby. She is talking non stop and some of the words we recognize. She is a busy little scoot and
you can't turn your back too long. The other day I looked down and she had unloaded the kitchen
cabinet. I almost tripped over the canned veggies.
I guess it is time I should address our fanconi results. They came back with Tucker as a carrier
and Presley probable effected. I don't have to tell you I was elated over Tuckers and devastated
with Pooh's. It was a pretty rough time for me and if not for wonderful friends to support and
encourage me when I couldn't help myself I don't know what shape I would be in. I will go on to say
that I am not without hope. God created Presley and I am choosing to trust him that things are
going to work out better than fine. I will admit I have tough moments from time to time and am
surprised at some of the times they hit me. I cry for a bit and then remind myself what I truly
believe.  Besides the fact I plan on having blood redrawn and retested later due to fear my
samples were misplaced. I am not just saying this but have valid reasons for my fears. That and
the fact there are several dogs into their teens who have tested in the same way and are not
symptomatic. This adds credibility to my feelings from the beginning as to fanconi. I do believe it
is an inherited gene but I think there are triggers. We may never totally understand what they are
but I am going to do everything in my power to ensure my Pooh stays in my arms where he
belongs for many many more years. We have been feeding a diet since May that I feel confident is
in our best interest should our results be accurate. I also strip test Presley each and every day
first morning urine and he is stripping clean. I have always religiously stripped them each month
first morning on the first of each month so I am also confident I haven't missed anything. We
haven't tested Milly yet and will wait for the direct test as we don't have any breeding plans.
Well that is about it for tonight. William is wanting me to get something for him. Shelly I will try and
do better with the site from now on.

12/01/07
The Babies are here and everyone is doing well. Bryce Andrew was born 11/30/07 @ 8:10pm. He
weighed 5lbs 5oz and is 18 3/4 inches long. Rylan James was born 11/30/07 @ 8:14 pm. He
weighed 4lbs 9 oz and is 16 1/2 inches long. Congratulations Ryan and Emily on these two
beautiful additions to the family.

9/09/07
Still waiting for our fanconi test results. I won't lie and say that I haven't fretted over these
because most of you know just how much these silly boys mean to me. I promise to post them as
soon as I hear anything. Lets keep thinking positive for good results because in my heart anything
else is totally unacceptable.
Tonight we went to the lake for a picnic and baptism service. It was a beautiful night and we had a
nice time. I took Presley with me and he was quite popular. Some hadn't seen him since I took him
to church as a little baby in a blanket. Several people thought I had a real baby in the blanket and
were quite shocked when I pulled the blanket back and revealed my striped brat.  Others had
only seen pictures and were surprised he wasn't bigger which is a common comment. I find it
interesting that many people think basenjis are bigger than they are.
OK several people have written assuming we are showing in Salina next weekend. This is the first
time we have skipped Salina in the last 3 years but didn't enter. We will miss seeing those of you
who are showing. Good Luck and be sure and let us know how you do. Our next show will be later
this month at Purina Farms. We are really looking forward to this show. The grounds are simply
beautiful and it holds a special place in our memories as Tucker became our first champion there
in May of 2005. I am taking my sunscreen as I got a savage tan last time we were there. <g> I may
even take a hat. We also are looking forward to having a good visit with friends who will be there.
Alissa and Ashli took some wonderful pictures of the kids. I will try and get some of them posted
tomorrow. I had better head to bed. I have a lot to do tomorrow and William is spending the night
and will be up wanting pancakes in the morning.

9/01/07
We had a really nice time the last 2 show weekends. We really had a blast enjoying groups each
evening sitting with friends. Gosh folks if you leave the show right after you leave the ring you are
really cheating yourself. This is when friendships develop and relationships grow. Presley looked
wonderful in the ring and is really starting to come into himself. I have been road working him and
Larry has been running on the treadmill and one or the other or the combination is improving their
movement in the ring. Several people commented on the difference which made me very proud of
them both. Congrats to Sarah and Dyan on their second major. A great big congrats to Linda and
Mr. Music on finishing his championship and to the wild child Baby Gabby on her first major. Our
grooming area was bringing in some nice wins.
Well last time I posted to the news I had just mailed the request for Tucker and Presley's fanconi
test. I really thought by this time I would of long ago reported the results and possibly been saying
I was getting ready to send in Milly's. Well..... I called yesterday and my tests haven't been run yet.
I guess the lab fell behind so I am still very anxiously waiting. I think I have gained 5 lbs and I may
be in need of a wig if this takes much longer. I believe I will take a little recoup time before I climb
back on this emotional roller coaster.
Speaking of the test. I have both celebrated reported results and in some cases cried as the
results have not been what we wanted. My heart breaks for everyone who is facing the possibility
of challenges ahead but pray that by being for warned they can be for armed in the fight to
remain healthy. Fanconi has taken one step closer to being a yesterday evil. May we soon leave it
in our dust as we move forward.
Today was strip testing day and all 3 tested clear and hopefully this time next month this will be
something we do just to finish up our bottle of strips.

8/09/07
You know it is 11:40 pm and I really should be heading to bed but wanted to get some of the
pictures uploaded. The weather here has been so miserable. It is too hot to do anything outside
even after the sun goes down. Hopefully we will get a break in this hot spell soon.
Tomorrow Matthew will turn 23 years old and I can hardly believe it. My baby boy who more than
made up for the tears that came from my longing for a baby of my own is all grown up with his
own babies. Gosh how time flies. Happy Birthday Matthew I love you more than you could ever
know.
Today I sent in the request to have Tucker and Presley tested for Fanconi. After I dropped it in the
mailbox a part of me wanted to retrieve it. I am just going to have to trust that it will come back
with the results we want. We will send Milly's off later. Hopefully we will soon no longer have need
of test strips.
Presley turned 3 on the 6th and his Birthday pictures are posted if you would like to see them.
Somehow the Birthday Hat is missing so he lucked out and didn't have to wear it in the picture.
When I come across it if it is still wearable I may make him pose for one with it just to be fair!
hahaha
I have entered Ch. Jazzeta's I Was The One JC in his first shows in the Best Of Breed Class. It was
pretty neat and I will admit I can't wait to see it printed in the catalog. Humor me a bit, I can't help
but smile knowing that everything from now on is gravy. I know the world didn't revolve around
him finishing but it sure consumed a lot of my thoughts! hahaha

7/31/07
August is full for us..... Alissa will celebrate her 24rd Birthday the 7th and Matthew will celebrate
his 23nd on the 10th. We are so proud of these 2 and sometimes when I look at them and the lives
they have built together I forget how young they are. We are so blessed as parents and
grandparents.
I will be entering Presley in his first show in the Best Of Breed Class. We moved him up the day
after he finished to Best Of Breed  but this is the first time I will get to see his name printed in a
catalog as Ch. Jazzeta's I Was The One JC. OK give me a break I know I sound a little crazy but
that is very exciting for me.
August is also the month Presley came into my life via a e-mail. Presley was born August 6, 2004
so will celebrate his 3rd birthday soon. Last week in August that year I received a picture of the
cutest 3 wk old striped baby you could ever imagine. If you want to see the pictures I got that day

7/26/07
Ok You knew it was bound to happen...It is purely coincidence that it happened the very week we
finished Presley but... We now have 2 brindles. I know I said the next one would be Larry's pick
but he really encouraged me to go ahead and get her. If you click the Someone new link you can
get a peek at her. She is the second one from the left.

7/25/07
Welcome to the family Tyler Michael Birch! Congratulations Ron & Kristen I know you are thrilled
to finally have him here. A Special heart felt Congrats to the new Grandparents. Ray and Sharon
there is just nothing better than looking into a face that sometimes sends you back twenty some
years. I think it is Gods special gift to allow you to see reminders of your own baby who
sometimes it feels like should still be a baby themselves. We are sooo happy for you all! Congrats
to Grandma and Grandpa Kramer also! Tyler's information is on his page in the family events. A
picture will be posted as soon as I can get a hold of one!
I have updated some of the Family events pages. MacKenzie's 1st Birthday, 4th of July and July
14th @ Mom and Dad's. I still have to get Presley's Show record completed so it is still on the to do
list.
Congrats to our friend Dave Thompson on winning the 2007 Life Touch Photography Pinacle
Award! Dave is a wonderful photographer and it is really neat seeing his work honored in such a
way.

7/12/07
I have been working on getting the family events pages updated. I still need to get pictures added
from MacKenzies Birthday party and from the 4th of July. I think I also have a couple from when
Mary, April and Aren came to visit. So in the next day or so I should have them all updated.
I also have to get Presley's show record updated and launched back up on the site. I took it down
to update it and haven't gotten it back up. I got a little carried away one day thinking I would
theme each of the dogs pages. Well I started with Presley's and it ended up being quite time
consuming so the other 2 will most likely remain the same. At least now that he is finished I won't
have to add anything else after this time. <g> The album effect is cute but way too touchy.
We aren't sure where we are showing next. We feel like a whole new world has opened up as for
the first time in 3 years we don't have to consider counts. We can show anywhere we want. We
have wanted to combine visiting and sight seeing in the past and weren't able to always go where
we wanted so who knows where we may end up.
I have had the kids the past 3 days so I have lots of stuff I need to get done so I had better get
busy.

7/08/07
We just got home from Sedalia and are so thrilled to share that we now live with 3 Basenji
Champions. Yes, Presley finally captured that illusive major. Saturday he took Best of Winners for
a 4 point major to become Ch. Jazzeta's I Was The One JC! If you remotely know me you already
can imagine how happy and proud I am of my brindle brat. We have made so many wonderful
friends and many of them were there to share the moment with us. When the judge pointed at
Presley for winners a cheer went up ring side and the hugs of congrats were underway. As we
waited to have a picture taken a lady came up to Larry and told him that she watched in
amazement and her heart was warmed at the sight. She said it is rare to see such genuine
sportsmanship and happiness for the competition. Jenn and Erik gosh wish you could of been
there too. Ronda and Dawn though it would of been perfect for you to be there at least I had
someone to call who wouldn't find it strange that I was crying! <g> Dave and Debbie you can rest
assured I will never have to ask what day your anniversary is on again!
William went with us and needless to say kept Joshua on his toes. It was pretty funny when
Presley came out of the ring William hugged him and said Presley you won Good job! It was
priceless.

7/02/07
We want to Congratulate Nathan and Amanda on a Beautiful new Baby Girl. Madison Grace joined
the family on June 29th. You can find pictures of her on the family events page.
6/05/07
Several people have written wanting updates and I apologize that I am behind. Here it goes.... We
are getting yet another baby in the family. Aren and Tony are expecting in January. Things are
going well with Emily and the twins. Kristen and Amanda are both doing well and expecting
deliveries next month. Karlee is adjusting well to her new life as an American girl. We are going to
celebrate our MacKenzie's 1st Birthday this weekend at Matt and Alissa's. Can you believe that
she and Ava Rose are already turning 1 year old? Ava turned 1 last week and MacKenzie will be 1
tomorrow.
We are very pleased with our decision to feed a raw diet to the basenjis. They are doing well and
their coats have remained beautiful. I will admit I worried about that as we have always been
pleased with their conditioning while on Eukanuba. We had a good time in Shawnee though we
didn't get our major. We ended up only showing 3 days as the major broke the last day and we
pulled. Presley earned his JC on that Saturday despite very wet conditions. Tucker refused to
puddle jump so failed to qualify. He thought there had to be drier ways to get a silly white bag.
Presley also ran in his first trial and tied for 1st but we refused a run off as we didn't want to over
do it. We had such a good time visiting and laughed so hard our stomachs hurt.

5/21/07
Dad sent me some pictures taken Saturday at the party to celebrate Lila's safe arrival. We didn't
get to go but it looked like they had a good time. They are on the Painter page in the family events
section.
We went to Gardner to the show this weekend. Since we knew that most all of the entry was going
to be absent we decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to work on some tips we have
received to help Presley in the ring. Since there wouldn't be a point to take unless he showed as
there was only one other dog present there wasn't any foul committed. The tips seemed to be
working as the shaking was at a minimal and he moved well. This has been a real frustrating thing
for us to work through. We work him at home and he seems to do better and get to a show and
like magic it starts over. We are really hoping that he is moving past this and we can get him
finished. We also took all 3 to the coursing practice Sunday between Breed judging and Groups. I
took Milly out of the crate only to discover she had come into season. No coursing for her and she
will not be traveling to Shawnee either. Yuck this is the worst part about having a bitch. Tucker
ran well but had to stop for a potty break and lost the lure. This was my fault for not making sure
that was taken care of previously. We had realized that Presley's cert. for ASFA had expired so
we let him run with another dog to re-cert. I was so proud of him because even when he was
nipped on the rump a couple of times and pushed off the course he didn't retaliate and
proceeded to chase the bunny. He got his certification which I am mailing in today. This was all
fun but we had even more fun visiting with friends. We laughed so hard at times my stomach
ached. It was so much fun meeting yet another family from our Pix list friends. I had the privelege
of holding Trog while his whippet sisters showed. He is the sweetest little guy. Trog and his family
also went to the coursing practice and I believe are joining our coursing club so we will get to see
them  more often.

5/17/07
Well some of you know that I have been thinking about feeding the basenjis a raw diet for some
time now. I have let concerns about meeting all their nutritional needs and the thought of trying to
carry all the stuff with us on show weekends hold me back. All the recent food recalls and
spurred me into action and after talking with some friends and sharing what I was thinking about
doing and getting their opinion and hearing their experience I have made a decision. The Birch
Basenjis are being fed a raw diet. We started Monday and so far things are going smoothly.

5/16/07
Gosh, I have gotten so far behind on the news page I don't know where to start catching you up. I
will start with Baby News! First April and Troy have Karlee and they will be returning home this
weekend. We pray for a safe trip and smooth adjustment as they learn to be a family of six.
Second we found out today that Ryan and Emily are expecting twins this December. We are so
happy for them and trust that God will bless Emily a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery. Ashli
and I got tickled when we thought of what tiny Emily is going to look like this Thanksgiving. Sorry
about that Emily.
Weekend before last Larry and I went into town to rent a carpet shampooer. We decided to go
ahead and buy one instead. As we were running errands I told Larry that I didn't feel real well and
by the time we got home I was sick. I went to bed and woke up feeling terrible Sunday morning so
spent the day in my jammies on the sofa. I finally went to bed and told Larry to take care of the
dogs. Instead of bringing Presley to bed with us he left him in his crate. I woke up about 3 am
hearing Presley cry. I got up and made my way down the stairs and turned on the light to find 3"of
water in our basement. Our sump pump picked the weekend we got 6"of rain to quit. Presley was
crying because his crate was flooding. The boys went out and got the pump out of the pond and
we drained the water and borrowed Raymond's shop vac and needless to say the carpet
shampooer was a Godsend. Due to Presley alerting us and the quick work of Larry and the boys
and a wonderful dehumidifier we lost very little. Thankfully the water was as clear as tap water
and cleaned up much easier than some had to deal with in the area.
The Pix list lost a special boy. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Eunice as she parted with
Tiger Pete this week. Losing Pete remindes us all just how important the research being done that
will hopefully rid our basenjis of fanconi and the terrible effects it has is. The pretty striped boy
will be missed dearly.
On a happier note we found out we are soon going to get 4 more shots at the major we need to
finish Presley. This past weekend at the Emporia show someone told me that I need to start
talking positive about him winning. So I am taking a celebration basket with me to Shawnee. <g> I
am also going to enter Presley in the lure trial. It will be his first time competing for points in
coursing. I am really excited about watching him run again.

5/08/07
Happy 18th Birthday Justin!
5/03/07
Well it has rained all day today! Got an update and April and Troy have safely arrived in China.
Our Tornado pictures from Tuesday made it on National news. Larry's Mom and Dad were
watching in Oklahoma and saw our pictures. Pretty funny.
Tornado Pictures

5/01/07
Today was strip testing day and again we got the desired results. I am getting the whole
procedure down pat. I did notice a different neighbor observing me following a circling Milly on a
very tight lead. All I can say is he missed the real show as my wire and baggy have been retired.
Larry won tickets to the Royals game for tonight so we will be heading to KC later today. The
seats are really nice ones and I just hope it doesn't rain. Ashli started her new temp. job today.
They have promised her 40 hours a week working in various centers as a sub. until her center
opens. The nice thing is these hours count for her certification and she gets to do what she loves.

4/29/07
April and Troy leave early Wed. morning to travel to China to bring Karlee home. Keep them in
you prayers as well as the kids who are staying home with Nana and Papa. On the Directory I
added a link  to Karlee's page which has a link on it to a web site that April and Troy will post to
while in China. I thought I would make it easy for you to follow their daily activities and to see
pictures of Karlee learning what it is like to have a family.

4/28/07
Steve and Shea along with Riley Grace  have welcomed Lila Shea to the family today. We are all so
thankful to God for this precious gift. Congratulations to them as well as Grandma and Grandpa
Dave and Elaine.

4/14/07
Yippee! I got up this morning to find NO snow on the ground. When I went to bed last night I wasn't
sure what would greet me when I looked out this morning. I know folks a couple of hours away
weren't so lucky.
Not sure what we will do today. I thought we were going to be snowed in sort of anyway. hahaha
Larry is working overtime today. It helps to support our habit. (showing) Matthew, Alissa and the
kids came out for a couple of hours last night and William decided to spend the night. I haven't
seen him yet this morning but I bet he is going to ask for Pancakes.

4/13/07
I got a call early this morning from Matthew needing someone to watch William and MacKenzie for
a while. The 3 of us ran some errands. I needed to get a few things for the bookstore and a some
groceries as the yucky weather may be on our doorstep yet again. I am sooooo ready for spring.
I got a call from Mary and April and Troy will be traveling a little earlier than planned but yet not
be able to get Karlee until a little later than planned. Something to do with the Trade show and a
Chinese Holiday.
Some more pictures of Easter have been posted. Remember if you have any that you would like
added just send them to me.

4/09/07
I have updated pictures on several pages in the Family Events. Amber sent pictures of her kids
and several from Mom and Dads Easter Sunday. I also got recent pictures of Saydie added. April
and Troy got an update on Karlee which can be found there also.
We had a very fun weekend at the show. We got yet another reserve to the major on Presley, so
are still hunting a major. He showed well and I couldn't of been prouder of him as he looked
beautiful in the ring. There was some very nice competition so we were happy our boy stayed in
the running. Presley did however add a title to his name. He is now Jazzeta's I Was The One JC.
This is the first step in his coursing career.  I may add more later but need to get some stuff done.
We brought home lot's of laundry! <g>

4/02/07
Well todays strip testing went much smoother. I decided to go with Linda's advice this time and
just run the strip through the stream and it was much easier to do than trying to catch it with my
baggy on a wire. So I think this is going to be the way I do it from now on. Thankfully all 3 tested
clear again so I have put away the strips for another month.
I am getting laundry caught up and starting to go through all the show stuff and getting it ready to
pack up Thursday morning.

3/26/07
Gosh what with being sick and then spring break I really got behind on the updates. We had a
disappointing weekend in Columbia so are still in the hunt for Presley's last major. We will be
heading to Wichita in a couple of weeks so will try again. I also am looking forward to picking up
Presley's second qualifying run for his JC title. I really enjoy watching him run and hope he does
as well as he did last year.
Well Dad is really enjoying e-mail and the internet. You ought to write him sometime. He and Mom
really enjoy hearing from everyone.
April and Troy have sent the final papers to China on Karlee's adoption and should get travel
verification any day now. Please keep the whole family in your prayers those traveling and those
who will be waiting at home to Welcome Karlee to the USA.  This link will help you to keep track of
their trip and they will use it to keep us posted while they are in China.
Journey To Karlee

3/08/07
Today we went to Mom and Dads to help get them on line. It was quite the ordeal as we had a
conflict in the anti virus and the Internet program we were installing. I think we have got most of
the problems resolved and will stop by in the morning to do some final touch ups.
Well we are showing this weekend and hope that Presley shows well as it will be his first time in
the ring since last fall. The first time in is always sort of nerve racking for me. It would be
wonderful if he took winners to finish but as long as he shows well and places respectably I will be
OK. I know he is beautiful and one of these days he will finish so I am trying to not get to
consumed this year. The most important thing is that he is healthy and makes me smile every day.
April and Troy are anxiously awaiting travel dates to go to China and bring Karlee home. It
shouldn't be too far off now. Ron and Kristen found out they are having a Boy and Nathan and
Amanda are having a Girl so July is going to bring us new little ones to cuddle and love.
Well I probably won't update again until Sunday evening or Monday morning. Keep your fingers
crossed and whisper a prayer for my striped brat and just maybe we will have exciting news to
report next week. <g>

3/05/07
Yesterday after church we went to Mom and Dads for dinner. Mom had dinner waiting for us as
Mom had set her clocks forward a week early. We all had a good laugh. Mom says that is the last
time she is going to listen to my aunt.
This week is probably going to fly by quickly. The weather is supposed to be nice so I plan on
walking the basenjis more instead of walking on the treadmill. I like my treadmill but I love getting
my exercise and enjoying the sights and company of my walking companion so much more. We
will be leaving for Columbia Friday. If enough shows up there will be a shot at finishing Presley.
After coming so close on several different occasions I really hope that we finally get the win we
need early in the year.
Oh we since Tucker and Milly have both turned 3 recently the time has come that we need to do a
monthly strip test on their urine. Presley is only 2 but since I am doing the other 2 I figured I would
just start him early. It was a very amusing afternoon for myself and the curious neighbors that
had front row seats for the collection process. I am sure they have a pool going as to just when
Larry is going to have me committed. Imagine me with my baggy on a wire following my dogs who
I have on a lead trying to catch urine when they potty.
I accidentally tickled Tuck belly with the
bag and he shot straight up in the air as only a basenji can do almost leaving his white socks
behind. Believe me the boys are soooo much easier than Milly. They are more predictable and
they stand stationary as they do their business. Milly does this wacky zig zag pattern and she was
also not really wanting me behind her with my handy dandy collection tool. Thankfully it only takes
a small amount. The wonderful news is all 3 passed with flying colors!

Last weekend Larry and I took the basenjis to St. Louis to have blood drawn for the Phenome
project. There was a wonderful turnout and we had a lot of fun. The Route 66 Basenji club was
wonderful and made us feel very welcome. We got to go for a lovely walk in the RAIN. I am not
talking a light rain but a down pour complete with wind. My umbrella kept turning inside out so I
pointed it right in front of me and let it block the wind from my face. If Dave Thompson had
stopped short I am afraid my umbrella would of goosed him as I couldn't see where I was going.
We were drenched when we got back to the van but laughed so hard at the scene we all must
have made with our African Sun worshipping dogs all wearing coats and looking at their humans
thinking we must be insane.
After lunch we headed over to the blood draw. I want to thank Stan Carter for so graciously
donating his clinic and services and Jon Curby for making a special trip to deliver them.
Saturday night we had pizza at Dave and Debbie Thompsons which was a special treat.

Today Mom and Dad are celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. I am so lucky to of grown up
with such a wonderful example of what it means to be in love and committed to a marriage. I love
you Mom and Dad and I hope that your day is a special as you are. We had a family get together
yesterday to celebrate and the pictures are on the Family Events 2007 page.

2/13/07
Well it has been quite a stressful couple of days around here.  Things are now back to normal.

2/10/07
Matthew and Alissa had a joint family party for Abbi and William at Mom and Dads. They each had
their own individual parties with friends earlier. It was a lot of fun, we had Mexican food and cake
and ice cream. I added a page of pictures on the family events page. I didn't get very many as my
camera battery went low.

2/09/07
Happy Birthday Abbi! Our beautiful girl is now 6 years old. She is becoming such big girl now that
she is in school. We love you Abbi and hope that this birthday is as much fun for you as you add to
our lives.

2/05/07
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLI! Gosh the time has flown by. We are so proud of the young lady you
have grown into and love you so very much! We will have your Birthday dinner when you get
home. I suppose you don't want the baked salmon either! hahahaha

2/04/07
Yesterday Larry and I got up early and headed to St. Joe to the dog show. Presley was entered
but because there was not a major he did not show. We had a good time visiting and watching
from the side lines though I can't wait until he gets that major so we can play again too. We also
had fun taking pictures of Flat Stanley at the dog show, Jesse James house and the birthplace of
Amelia Earhart. I hope Abbi has a Flat Stanley one of these days.

2/02/07
Happy Birthday William! Today Grandma's boy turned 3 years old. William Grandma and Papa
love you so much and are so thankful for the love and joy you bring to our family!

2/01/07
Happy Birthday Larry! Today is Larry's Birthday so we had homemade Chicken Enchilada's. He
didn't want the baked salmon! hahaha

1/31/07
Today we celebrated our 3rd anniversary of being a Basenji family. 3 years ago today we brought
home 8 wk old Tucker and our lives have been forever changed.

1/29/07
We are working on the 4th page of Pix List Friends. This series of pages has the potential to
continue growing for some time. Keep checking in on them and you will see some adorable
basenjis. Happy Birthday Ruby!
I also have new pictures taken yesterday of Armani I need to get added sometime today.

1/25/07
I apologize for not updating in almost a week. Amber and Amanda have both sent me new
pictures which I have added to the Family Events page. They are really cute. If you have any
pictures that you would like to share with the rest of the family please send them to me.
The boys are home and our house is once again buzzing. They had a really good time with
Grandma and Papa and were a big help moving furniture and cleaning up after the ice storm.
We were disappointed in the breed counts for St. Joe. No major to be had! We may drive up to
watch as Larry has a couple of friends who were interested in attending.
Larry and I are thinking about driving to St. Louis next month to have blood drawn on the basenjis
as the blood drawn in Tulsa had to be discarded. I hope the weather cooperates as we have also
been invited to go on a nature hike with the Route 66 Basenji Club. Doesn't that sound like fun?

1/19/07
Well we entered our first show of the year this week. Our main goal this year is to finish Presley.
So major hunting we shall go where we end up who knows! I pray we are able to find majors
without having to travel too far.
We are supposed to have snow starting tomorrow afternoon. It was above freezing today so the
boys and I ventured out for a walk. You may wonder why I usually take the boys and not Milly. Well
it is due to a couple of things. Mainly I can but it is a lot of work for me to handle all 3 of them by
myself. They may not look it but they are actually very stout. Tucker is usually posted at the front
door when it is looking like a walk is likely. When it is cold and I only want to take one trip I need to
take both boys or we will have a confrontation upon returning. Milly doesn't do this. Don't send her
sympathy cards she is loved and gets her share of attention.
We passed a man on the sidewalk and he exclaimed, "It's the dog lady." How is that for a
nickname? At least it didn't have CRAZY in front of it. I just smiled at him. He stopped me and said
you know when I walk by your house and these guys are in the yard they never bark at me like that
little one you have. I told him they were barkless. He nodded his head and said Oh you had that
taken care did you. He was probably wondering why we didn't do the same thing to Shelby. I went
on to tell him a little about the breed and the boys true to form made a new friend.

The web site is developing all the time. When we go to dog shows that have agility events I enjoy
watching a few of the runs. Sometimes there is even a basenji participating which is really fun. I
am not sure if we will ever personally be involved in agility but I wanted to give everyone who
visits the site to have an opportunity to see that Basenjis can be very successful in this sport. With
the help of Cody and Karly I have added a page featuring agility. I encourage you to take a look. I
thought to again organize the site further I grouped a few pages under one link on the directory
page. You will find the Agility as well as Dog Shows and Lure Coursing linked to Basenji Activities.
This link will also include other racing events as I get the pages completed.

1/13/07
Since our weather is so icky we decided to go into town and watch the kids at their house. We
thought it would be nice for them to be able to play with their toys and be able to go to their own
bed. Yesterday's news if really full of discrepancies, Because of the weather even Ashli was with
us. We had pizza, watched movies and did puzzles.
Today is COLD and snowy so we are staying home. Larry and Ashli are watching the ballgame
and I am playing on the computer.
I added a picture of Jazzy to the fur friends page. I also added pictures to the B-Pix friends page.
These pages are really starting to get fun. I hope they continue to grow.

Yesterday was beautiful here weather wise. It was in the upper 60's. I actually walked the boys
without a coat. Now today....not in anyway the same. It is cold and spitting snow and we are under
a winter weather advisory!
The boys (2 legged for those of you who don't know Larry's mom) went to Oklahoma with their
grandparents yesterday to help move furniture as they are getting new flooring. My house is very
very quiet this morning. I am going to bath the basenjis, clean house and then find something to
do until this afternoon when the house will once again be hopping. Abbi, William and MacKenzie
are coming out to spend the night. Ashli won't be home this evening either so it will be just Papa,
me and the kids. Should be fun.
Yesterday I redid the available page. Lately I have felt strongly compelled to do something to help
with helping Rescue Basenjis. Due to space and care needs on show weekends we really do not
feel we are able to offer long term foster care at this time. So I have decided that I will add an
individual picture with links to adoption information for Rescue Basenjis currently being fostered
by friends. Rescue Basenjis usually find them selves in need of a second chance by not fault of
their own. Many times they are left homeless due to life circumstances of their owners or simply
because someone failed to investigate the breed and understand the unique characteristics of
the Basenji.
Basenjis are not cute curly tailed labs just waiting dutifully for your next request. But if you are
one of the group who understands and appreciates the antics of these adorable little African
clowns than your life can only be enriched by adding one to your home.

1/10/07
The B-Pix page is growing in fact it is now starting the second page. I decided to give it it's own
link to make it easier for people to find who are looking for it.  MacKenzie and William are here
today so got to keep moving.

1/09/07
We have a new page of pictures on the site! This page features all the truly wonderful friends we
have met through a picture list I am a member of. You will need to check it often as I am sure it will
grow regularly. If you want to subscribe to this list just send me an e-mail and I will send you the
link. The page is called
B-Pix Friends and will be a part of the Fur Friends pages. I hope that you
enjoy them.

Happy Birthday Miss Milly! Milly turned 3 today. The basenjis had baked whiting and Homemade
Peanutbutter/Apple cookies. Milly also got a new furry pink mouse which for some reason Tucker
took a liking too.

1/04/06
Yesterday we got back into the swing of life after the Holidays! Gosh I am looking forward to
summer vacation. hahaha Abbi, William and MacKenzie came out yesterday afternoon and I
enjoyed getting to hold my big girl a little bit too. She must be feeling the effects of having to get
up early for school too because she climbed up in my lap then I realized she had fallen asleep.
She must of had to go to the workshop for a few hours and with school too was just tuckered out .I
just sat and soaked up a little bit of time holding her as I know it won't be long before these days
will only be a wonderful memory.

Well I watched the services for President Ford this morning. He was one of the first Presidents I
have a real conscious memory of. I can still remember watching Nixon leave office and Ford
stepping in.
This afternoon I worked on the Show Me Basenji Club web site. Larry happens to be the
Vice-President of the club and I found myself elected club secretary recently. I started doing the
clubs web site and had so much fun I decided I needed my own. So that is how this site came into
being. I put together what I think is a pretty cute page. The brindle boy "Jagger" is Presley's
uncle. Jagger and Presley's mother are litter mates. If you follow the link you can check it out.

Happy New Years everyone! When I look back at 2006 I realize we had a very good year. It is a
year that brought about many changes in our family. We welcomed a beautiful new grand
daughter as well a several nieces and nephews. Ashli graduated from High School. Ashli, Abbi ,
William and MacKenzie were spared serious injury in a car accident. 2006 also brought a few sad
goodbyes into our life but on the whole we have much to be grateful for.
We also had a very successful year in the show ring. All 3 dogs had some very impressive wins in
2006. Milly picked up 3 majors to complete her requirements to become our second AKC
champion. Tucker picked up several Best of Breeds in very limited showing in 2006. Presley
picked up 1 of his majors and several reserves besides a few Best of Breeds from the classes.
We really hope to be able to pick up that last major in 2007.
We invite you to visit often and share all that 2007 has in store for us. We move forward
anticipating many celebrations and a Wonderful Year!
