News 2009
January 9, 2009:
OK I know that I am slow getting this page on the site. Here we are already through a whole
week of the year. I decided to give the news page a new look for this year.
We rang in the New Year at Mom and Dad's. Mary, Aren, Carter, Camden, Amber, Bella,
Colston, Jonah, Ava, Amy, Tony, Larry, Me and of course Mom and Dad ate Mexican food and
played spoons. Joshua and Levi dressed up as Bo and Luke Duke for Last Blast at the
church. Kirstyn and a friend looked like a throw back to the 80's and Blake and his cousin
Vanessa were dressed in 50's attire. I think a good time was had by all.
On January 3rd Larry and I hosted A Murder Mystery Party for the Birch Christmas. You can
check out the pictures and know that it was a blast.

No I am not planning on just posting news once a month.... I plan to get back into the routine
of posting on a regular basis. I will just try and catch you up on the happenings so far this
year. We celebrated Larry, William, Ashli and Abbi's birthdays. Would you believe that we all
went Roller skating for Abbi's party? I had forgotten just how heavy those skates are but
thankfully still remembered how to do it. <g> We are so proud of our babies which turning 8
and 5 they would probably debate it but to me they will always be my babies. Even Ashli who
turned 21! Can you believe our princess has grown up?  In fact her daddy is going to be faced
with the task of walking her down the aisle in October. Dylan presented her with a ring on
Valentines day and she just glows with the promise and excitement that goes with a girl in love
and planning a wonderful future with the man of her dreams.
We have lots of babies due to arrive in 2009! Let's see Anna is expecting a girl, Ivaree hasn't
shared what she is having but we are so excited for her and Courtney as they await their first.
Jeremy and Heather are giving Saydie a brother in April, and Nate and Amanda are due this
summer. I guess the biggest surprise and shortest pregnancy this year goes to April and Troy.
We just found out that they will be traveling to Korea to get their baby boy in a few months.
Mom and Dad celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary the 19th. All I can say is our family
has no excuse when it comes to commitment and unconditional love. We have a living
example of wedding vows lived out before us. I am so thankful for the wonderful legacy they
have given us and the knowledge that my parents not only love me but they also love each
other. Thanks Mom and Dad....for everything!
Ok for the basenji news......Really there isn't much to tell. Tucker is still dignified and
wonderful, Milly is still petite and enjoys digging in the yard. Presley well he is still as precious
and cute as ever. Lola gosh it is hard to believe that in about a week we will of had her for a
whole year. She is a character, always looking for ways to be in the center of everything. She
has matured into a very pretty girl. We ended last years showing of her with a reserve to a
major and a major to her credit out of puppy class which we were pleased with. We will be
showing her for the first time this year in a couple of weeks. Though our shows may be more
limited this year due to planning a wedding we hope to get her out a few times and see if we
can pick up some more points.

Josh Lola and I went to the St. Patricks day Parade. We found Alissa and the kids as well as
Karen and CC to watch the parade with. Will kept putting beads he would get on Lola so by
the time we left she had quite the collection. We also enjoyed visiting with 2 lovely ladies who
Lola managed to work her girly charms on.

We took the boys with us into town today to shop for a new pump for the pond. Imagine the
surprise to hear the cashier at Lowes proclaim upon seeing Presley that she had 2 basenjis at
home. We came to find out that it was even more exciting as one of her basenjis ended up
being related to one of ours.

Congratulations to Kirstyn on making Varsity Cheerleader her Freshman year in highschool!
We love you Kirty and want you to know we are so proud of you.

April 26, 2009
It's been a full month so far and the family is growing! Great Grandbaby's # 32 and #33
have arrived. Jeremy and Heather welcomed Jacob DeWayne on April 16th. He weighed 6lb
15oz and is 19" long. On April 26th to the surprise of the family who thought another baby boy
was coming Anna had a girl! Mercedes Starr weighed 6lb 15oz. Both little ones and their
mamas are doing fine.
Abbi got her braces this month. Our beautiful girl now has some shiny teeth and is so
proud of them. We are proud of how brave she has been throughout. The other day Will and
Kenzie were playing and I overheard "Now lay back and open your mouth...." I looked up and
Will was standing over Kenzie with a pair of tweezers in his hand.

My goodness Summer is upon us and it is truly HOT! I am so sorry but I again let so much
time pass between updating the news page. Ok to try and quickly bring you up to now and this
is not going to be in any particular order.
On the baby front.....Ivaree and Courtney welcomed a beautiful baby girl. There are
pictures of Miss Marley on the events page. Amanda and Nathan will be having their little one
any day now. They don't know if it is a boy or girl.....we will soon find out. April and Troy will
hopefully be getting some confirmed times on when they can bring Tadd home from Korea
and we just found out that Aren and Tony are expecting another little one. We are one
blessed family.
I got to spend a week shuttling Abbi. Will and Kenzie to swimming lessons. I have to tell
you sitting in this heat for an hour and 45 minutes a day was gruelling but I am happy to report
all 3 passed to the next level for next year. A little funny...we decided to stop and get pizza one
day afterward and they each wanted a different kind. After getting 2 of them to agree on one
kind we placed our order. When we got home and Kenzie saw we got cheese instead of
sausage she had a little melt down. I had to turn my back and smile when she stomped her
foot and said I not want cheese I wanted sausage. She got over it quickly and ate but it is
really funny seeing her begin to voice her opinion a bit to the older kids. I intend to get some
pictures from swimming lessons posted soon. I did get some posted the other day of Will's
T-ball games. I have some of Abbi's team I also need to get  added.
We traded off the van for a KIA Sorento and are loving it. I was so ready for 4 doors and
no sliding door! Yipee... I loved the van life but have to admit it was sort of a liberating feeling
to down size a bit. We are finding show weekends are going to be a bit more challenging for
packing so may buy a small trailer to put all the luggage and extra equipment we tend to haul
then.
This past weekend Ashli, Dylan and William went with us to a family reunion in Missouri.
We had a really good time and seeing 3 of grandma's siblings really made me miss her and
wish she were still with us.
Wedding.....well it is getting closer and closer. Paid for the candle lighting the other day
and lighters. It is sort of funny and we will blame it on the heat.....We are standing there trying
to decide between which finish and the amount of candles and the lady asked if we would
need candle lighters also? First thought was no we already have 2....<g>
We are showing this weekend in Sedalia. This weekend is one we look forward to every
year cuz we get to see some very special friends. Hopefully Lola will show well. Please keep
your fingers crossed for her. She didn't show well in Moberly so we really don't know what to
expect.
Larry and I are really enjoying facebook. Pretty different experiences but neat all the same.
I tend to be communicating more with current and new friends and he seems to be renewing
contacts from his past. Oh I have found a few friends from high school and the church youth
group but not nearly as many as Larry. I love seeing the pictures that have been posted from
his days in California. We have laughed and enjoyed talking about his memories. I wonder if I
had anything to do with his losing all that hair? <g> Anyway it is fun seeing faces and getting
a snap shot of his life before me. Sort of makes me a bit envious that I don't have a mysterious
past to share. Larry came here and became a part of my life so he pretty much knows all there
is to know about me. After all I met him 2 weeks after I turned 17 so I hadn't had time to form a
past, <VBG>

We are thrilled to proclaim Lola won her second major today in Sedalia. It was a
wonderful win among some very nice competition which makes it that much sweeter. The
weather has not been at all hot and we have been enjoying this special time with friends we
have chosen to be family. We have 2 more shows this weekend as well as a picnic and plans
to enjoy some fireworks.

Nathan and Amanda had an 8 lb 9 oz baby girl last night, They have yet to name her but
she is absolutely beautiful. We also received news that Tadd will be flying home from Korea in
a couple of weeks. April and Troy have decided to have him escorted instead of going to pick
him up. We are tickled for our added blessings but we can't help but be sad as well to learn
that Aren and Tony lost their coming baby this week.
Wedding......Bridesmaids dresses are decided and ordered. Now onto Flowers...... Have I
mentioned how glad I am that we are only doing this once?!?
